Commissions Accountant

The Commissions Accountant is a highly organized and detail oriented individual of the accounting team. The commissions accountant has a solid understanding of commission structures and is able to accurately calculate and manage commission payments for our sales team.


Explore some of the key responsibilities integral to this role:

  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of weekly payroll and/or producer commissions
  • Track and deduct all garnishments and other special deductions
  • Review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets
  • Calculate commission payments based on sales performance and commission structures
  • Analyze and validate commission payments with payroll and accounts payable
  • Work closely with the sales team to resolve commission-related issues
  • Prepare monthly commission reports for management
  • Prepare and remit federal, state and local tax reports and payments in a timely fashion
  • Generate 1099's along with other year-end functions
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed, such as filing and organizing paperwork, and managing electronic documents


Here are some of the essential qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • 2+ Years' experience in commission accounting
  • Understanding of commission structures and calculations
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
